ALBION SPEEDRUN MARATHON BRIGHTON - 21/22 NOVEMBER 2026

Who's ready for our next live event!? We've already made our presence known in the north of the country, so it only seemed right to head to the south - and we mean SOUTH. Because we can reveal our second live event will be:

BRIGHTON ANIME & GAMING CON - 21/22 NOVEMBER 2026
https://spring.brightonanimecon.com/

Yep, we are hitting the complete opposite end of the country for this one, situated at Brighton Racecourse, the first time AnimeLeague will hold their event here. Yes, we are back with AnimeLeague for this event as they were fantastic for us in Manchester and we're delighted they want us to return.

Submissions will open soon, and there will be other details and changes from our first event to come. In the meantime, keep that date in your diary, start thinking about what you'd like to submit, and share the news across socials to get the news to as many folks as we can!

Volunteering now OPEN

I am very pleased to announce that applications to join the Albion Speedrun Crew are now open! This is to apply for long term volunteering roles that aren't tied to specific events. If you want to help us out in any way, this is the place to go to. Do feel free to ping the department lead if you'd like a little more info before you apply - we do intend to have department descriptions on the server at some point in the future. Just note though, in many cases applications won't be considered until after SGDQ.

Huge thanks to @Deccyf for getting this set up on our website - no Google Forms in sight!

Community Update

Hi @Community ,

Not going to ping everyone just yet but a little update on the Discord Server.

  • ideas-and-feedback has now become albion-feedback and will mainly be to do with our events, such as Restreams, community events (soon™) or in-person events.
  • A new Forum has been set up for albion-suggestions so you can post individual posts about suggestions you'd like to offer for us going forward. This can be about anything that you think could be improved or implemented either on Discord or in our events.
  • Community events are going to be planned to become a semi-regular thing to help us get to know each other as a community and are entirely voluntary to join, but it would be wonderful to see many of you participating where possible! There isn't a set schedule yet, or even a date for the first community event but keep your eyes peeled 👀 . There will also be a new Stage voice channel set up for these as well as an additional community events VC so instead of all gathering around in the general voice chat, we will have a dedicated area to talk and hang out when these events are ongoing that can't easily be done via the stage channel.
  • The Welcome and Rules will be expanded on soon to make sure there is some clarity around them, and there will be separate sets for both Discord/Community and also at one of our in-person events. This is to make sure that we all have a good standard to abide by when interacting with each other in this space and also when meeting people at one of our events.

As always, we're always happy to have you all as a community member within ASC, and if there are any issues at all with anything feel free to let me or another lead know in the meantime.

ASC Updates

Hi @everyone and welcome to the new community-announcements channel. This channel will be used to share community based announcements, whilst asc-announcements will continue to announce events and other public messages. We'll still ping @everyone for the big announcements we definitely want everyone to hear, but for this channel, we'd rather give you the option of being notified about stuff in the community, so there's a new @Community role you can grab in Channels & Roles which we'll ping here in future.

You may have noticed some changes in the server, so I wanted to give you an update of where we're at and what's coming soon:

STRUCTURE
We've decided on our team structure moving forward, with all prior Crew (aka the team that organised Manchester) becoming our @Lead Team. Each member of the team covers a department, so if you have any queries about any area, here's who to ask:

@Organisation Lead - @NickRPGreen
@Art & Design Lead - @Garlips
@Community Lead - @Streetbackguy
@Games Committee Lead - @Drakodan
@Hosting Lead - @Lovenfloofen
@Infrastructure Lead - @InstaSim™
@Social Media Lead - @DarkSkyNL
@Tech Lead - @NickRPGreen
@Twitch Lead - @Spyran
@Video Lead - @Crisis
@Website Lead - @Deccyf

Now that we have official departments set up, we're open to having other folks join the @Crew! We'll soon be opening applications for anyone who wants to assist us long term to join these departments. You'll be welcome to join more than one, and each of our leads can also act as crew within other departments. Details on how to join in coming soon, and we'll have further details on the roles and responsibilities of each department in due course.
‎‎
LEGAL STATUS
At the moment, we're just a bunch of people who put on an event. We're not legally recognised, we have no checks and balances, we don't have a bank account. For those reasons and more, to continue we need to be a legally recognised entity so I am now beginning the process of setting us up as a Community Interest Company (CIC). This is a social enterprise that operates in a similar fashion to a traditional limited company but specifically regulated to benefit a community rather than private profit.

In short, this gives us a lot of flexibility in what we can do and how we operate (especially compared to a charity), but still with the legal expectation that our focus is community first. It's a very common company type, and for precedent's sake, it is also what UKSG are registered as. For more info about CICs, check out the official GOV.UK guidance. There is a cost to setting up, which the Lead Team will be splitting as a show of our own commitment to the organisation. I'll share updates on progress when appropriate.

EQUIPMENT UPGRADE
For those who attended Manchester and "experienced" our audio set up, you'll be glad to know we've made an investment in a proper analogue audio mixer. 12-channels including 8 XLR/line inputs sets us up nicely for the long term. I've also purchased two more of the same headsets we had at Manchester, so with the other piece of backup equipment available, we'll be able to support up to five speaking talent for future events! Whilst these are currently being funded by me, once the CIC is set up, we'll be looking at how we retain funds for the organisation (taking a share of donations, Twitch/YouTube revenue) to cover future expenses.

EVENTS
As I hope you're already aware, we have the Italian Speedrun Community's GUF The Lost Runs Stream in 11 days. We'll lock in commentators who have applied and get you prepped this week, but the form remains open for anyone who still wants to apply, as we do have space available. In particular, we don't have any commentators for Dark Souls: Remastered - Any% and Ninja 外伝 II: The Dark Sword of Chaos - Any%. If you're interested in these or know someone who'd be great providing commentary for them, please direct them to the sign up form.

Whilst I can't reveal details yet, the Lead team has agreed in principle on this year's Autumn Live Marathon! We've got to confirm the details with AnimeLeague to ensure the logistics are viable and should both parties be happy, we'll announce it soon! AnimeLeague were so good to us for our inaugural event, so we feel very strongly about returning to work with them for at least this next event. However, just like with did with the Italian Speedrun Community, we're always excited about other opportunities that could arise, whether that's live or online.

CLOSING
That's everything to share for now. Apologies it's been across three posts (I cancelled my Nitro a while back and have no plans to return). Once the new departments get to work on what they want to do, we'll have more updates, especially around more community focused stuff in the server (including a new server structure, rules, moderation etc.), and how we might use the Twitch/YouTube channels for more than just our major events. There is definitely a desire to make this an evergreen community, rather just one that meets for marathons, so we'd love your albion-feedback. Let's make ACS a community we can all thrive in!

Happy Pride Month!

@everyone
Happy Pride Month y'all! I see folks are enjoying the new emotes and server icon!

The Italian Speedrun Community have invited us to another event! GUF26 The Lost Runs is a short showcase featuring runs that were cancelled or backups, taking place from Sunday 28th June 2026 16:00 - 21:40 BST. You can find the schedule here: https://fungos.italianspeedruncommunity.com/events/guf26-lost We've agreed to provide another English restream, especially as some of these were runs we had commentators excited for at the main event and then had to miss. Same as before, there's a form to complete and we're looking for up to three commentators for each run: https://forms.gle/8ueZBiLTzznjMsCK7.

As I've got your attention, wanted to give a brief update on where we're at with ASC. I know we've had folks asking about the next event, and asking to get involved and I want to assure you that we've not forgotten you. We've got a Crew meeting next week that's acting as our big "now what" discussion - how we take the organisation forward, structure, goals etc. There'll be some work to do following that, so it'll probably be sometime last June/early July that we have a proper update for you, but rest assured, stuff is coming.
Thanks for your support!

GUF26 Commentary

Good evening @everyone and a big thank to all our new @GUF26 commentators!

Everyone who applied has been given a spot on at least one game they applied for, so we're glad everyone will get a chance. We'll give you more instructions shortly in the dedicated channel.

We are planning to keep the application form open until a couple of days before the event, but we'll remove runs from it where we already have at least two commentators. So if you were erring on the side of "I can jump in on anything if you need it", now's the best time to look at the form and see what we've still got space for. We will have some runs with only one commentator, but if we can get them a buddy before the event, even better! I am pleased to confirm we do at least have one commentator for every run, so well done everyone!

With that, we'll see you all on the channel on 9/10 May for the restream!

AND thats a WRAP!

@everyone
WOW! What a weekend! An incredible set of speedruns by some fantastic talent! I am blown away by the support. Thank you all so much! We hit DOUBLE our original target, with our total currently at £1,002.69! We'll be leaving the donation page open for at least a week in case anyone missed out and wanted to support Everyone Can. Speaking of the charity:

Hi ASC,

I caught some of the Albion Speedrun Marathon over the weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to say Hi in chat, but it looked great. I was totally blown away with your efforts and the generosity of your community, raising funds for us. I can assure you every penny raised will be used to great effect, using gaming to improve the lives and the outlook for so many disabled and neurodiverse people.

Next time you stream, please say a huge thank you to all the lovely and generous people who supported us.

Kind regards,
Jules
The Everyone Can Team

So on behalf of the Crew and Everyone Can, THANK YOU! We couldn't be more grateful to everyone who has supported us and donated to the cause. To hit four-figures on our first event is an incredible achievement and everyone involved should be incredibly proud, especially our crew and volunteers. Anime League were really pleased with our performance, donated the final £100 to get us over £1,000, and are already excited about having us back.

We'll be getting the runs on YouTube this week. Runners are welcome to use the VODs in whatever capacity desired. We've had plenty of feedback over the weekend, but we're finalising a form for anyone else. There's plenty of improvements to be had (talent and live audio are a major priority), and we appreciate your notes.

Remember, we're after commentators for our restream of Italy's GUF marathon, please share this with others: https://forms.gle/9bBxUs4xrUyBMkqSA

Thanks again, love to you all!

SUBMISSIONS - ONE WEEK LEFT!

@everyone
Few bits of news today. First and most importantly, there's just one week left to get your submissions in! We're really pleased with the submissions we've had so far, but there's always room for more, so don't miss out!

Hosting we'll leave open a little longer, so do drop a submission if you're interested.

We're now also opening submissions for off-site volunteers to cover social media, chat mods, and other design work. If you'd like to help out from the comfort of your own home, this is the form for you!

We've now launched socials on Facebook and Instagram so you can follow us there too. Everyone Can has posted about us on their socials, and we know AnimeLeague will be doing the same in the lead up into the event.

Finally, if anyone attending is looking to share accommodation, we got a couple of team members (myself included) eyeing up an Airbnb that has some room for more. Drop me a dm if you're interested!

Pre-Event Streams to Qualify for Twitch Affiliate

Good day everyone - we'd like to invite you to a little housewarming! While we won't be conducting our first speedrun marathon until April, we do have the task of getting our Twitch Channel up to Affiliate status ahead of then. To do that, we need:

• 25 Followers (we have 17 at time of writing)
• Stream for 4 hours
• Stream on 4 different days
• Average of at least 3 viewers across all 4 streams

As such, we've devised this short schedule amongst us for this week:

02 February 2026 16:00 - 20:00 | Garlips
03 February 2026 16:00 - 19:00 | Lovenfloofen
04 February 2026 20:00 - 00:00 | Drakodan
05 February 2026 20:00 - 00:00 | NickRPGreen

The best way to help with this effort is to tune in to as many of the streams as you can, for as long as you can - and of course to share this with others who may enjoy watching. In the Discord we could even co-ordinate a guaranteed viewership to make sure we're hitting the average.

The content of the streams is going to be fairly typical to what each person usually streams, which will make for a lot of variety. We're excited for everyone to meet some of the team and drum up some pre-event hype, see you there!

SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR ALBION SPEEDRUN MARATHON MANCHESTER!

It's go time, we are officially launched! Our first live event will take place at Manchester Anime & Gaming Con on Saturday 11th - Sunday 12th April! This is an in person event only, if you'd like to run, commentate, spectate, or host, you will need to purchase a ticket. A ticket that gets you access to an entire convention with so much cool stuff to see and do.
https://spring.manchesteranimecon.com/

We are of course fundraising as part of the marathon, and we've gone for a local gaming charity Everyone Can. Their Technology Centre in Manchester offers an unparalleled gaming experience for disabled people. With alternative control methods for anyone who needs them, they ensure everyone can game together and if a solution doesn't exist, they invent one with their Design and Production Lab. This unique and innovative charity are raising the lives of disabled people to a higher level.
https://everyonecan.org.uk/

All of the details can be found on the Oengus submission page: https://oengus.io/marathon/asm-manc
We've also opened submissions for hosting, which can be done here: https://forms.gle/sW8nhyqWdNLovFPu9
Online/onsite volunteers for social media and chat mods will open when the schedule is revealed. If you're interested in helping out in any other way, give us a shout!

Submissions close EOD Sunday 8th March, and we expect to publish the schedule a week later.

Finally, we have a proper logo! Huge thank you to @Garlips for his work on our feathery raven mascot. This likely won't be the final iteration of the logo, but we're all really pleased with the idea. We hope you love it!

There'll be a post on Bluesky shortly, which should automatically get posted in social-posts. Please do give it a like and repost it, we need to get it in front of as many eyes as possible!

Pre-Launch Update: Submissions Opening Soon!

Good evening everyone. I hope you're all having a fantastic start to 2026. We've been a bit quiet recently, but the team has been getting stuff prepped behind the scenes, so I wanted to make a pre-launch announcement to get some stuff out of the way, so the proper launch can focus on just that.

The team has had its first proper kick off meeting, which went really well. We're all aligned on the goal, timelines etc. So I'm pleased to confirm the launch, with the opening of submissions, will be taking place very soon. We have also chosen our charity for this event, which will also be revealed at the launch. I hope you'll agree we've picked something relevant and awesome. All of our social media for the launch will be posted on Bluesky, so it'd be great if you could give the page a follow ready for the launch: https://bsky.app/profile/albionspeedrun.co.uk

One thing we'd like to try and do before the event itself, is to get the Twitch channel to affiliate status. This shouldn't be too difficult, as the affiliate requirements were slashed a couple of years ago. Members of the team have been invited to stream on the Twitch channel after we've launched to encourage follows and to get the hours/stream numbers up. We did restart the Twitch channel to shorten the name to just AlbionSpeedrun, so if you're not following that version, please give it a click: https://twitch.tv/albionspeedrun

Finally, I'm going to be attending London Anime & Gaming Con on 21/22 Feb, volunteering for the crew there to get a decent understanding of how the event works from that side. Not 100% confirmed, but I should also be hosting a speedrun panel again. If you're planning on checking it out, let me know - it'd be great to see you!

Core Team Formed - Help Us Choose a Name!

We need your help!

I'm pleased to confirm we now have a core team of 11 members! This a fantastic show of support and gives us a great opportunity to share experience and workload for this inaugural event. The Team role has been seperated in the member list, so you can easily check out who's involved. If you're still interested in joining, let me know, but we will also be offering out less committed volunteer roles closer to the event.

But onto your input - as stated in a prior announcement, one of our first goals is to come up with a name for the organisation/marathon, as I'm not tying this directly to STUK. We've had some discussions as a team, and nailed down a few options, so we'd like your input. None of the names here are final, there's room to tweak certain words or the order. You can vote on which you prefer, but the intention isn't to simply take the winning name, but use it to understand the direction to go in. So please, give us any thoughts and suggestions that might help push in the right direction.

We're pretty certain we want some sort of country/region signifier in there so runners immediately spot "this is something happening in the UK", but we're wary about having something that could be confused with existing organisations. So, here's the three directions we've got:

1️⃣ Speedrunners of Britain
2️⃣ Albion Speedrun Collective
3️⃣ Speedrun Marathon Group UK

Let us know your thoughts in ideas channel!

We Have an Event! Manchester Anime & Gaming Con 2026

I am very pleased to confirm that we have an event! STUK has been invited to host a marathon at Manchester Anime & Gaming Con on 10th-12th April 2026 (https://spring.manchesteranimecon.com/).

There's obviously a lot of organisation that now needs to happen, so my job is to put together a team to put on the event. Ideally that team needs to be made up of people who can attend and volunteer at the event, but there will be room for those who to want to help out remotely, particularly in the build up to it. Among other things, the team will also have the opportunity to:
• determine the direction of the marathon
• finalise the charity we raise money for
• name the organisation/marathon!

That's right, Both Anime League and STUK want to act as partners to this marathon, and not represent the marathon in its whole. That means, the organisation/marathon needs a name, branding, Twitch/YouTube channels etc. This Discord server will remain the home, and will be rebranded accordingly. If we have any artists who are keen to get involved to help with this, I'd be delighted to have you on board.

Once the team is established, we'll get to work on organising stuff and hopefully get submissions out to the wider community in the new year. I should note, we are intending for runs to be on-site only - there are no plans to host online runners, as to me that kind of decieves the point of trying to set up a new live event. Should the first event go well and we establish ourselves strongly, we'll explore other opportunities in the future.

So, if you're interested in being part of the core team, let me know. If you'd rather act as volunteer closer to the time, that's also great, and we'll set up a volunteer space at that time as well. The best thing for everyone to do at the moment, is to spread the word, and get folks into the server!
